Eye surgeon James Muecke says he'll use his new-found publicity to advocate for a sugar tax and warn people against excessive consumption.
But Health Minister Greg Hunt's told the ABC a tax is not high on the list of the government's priorities.
Mr Hunt said, "We don't support one. We don't think driving up the price of household goods for families is the way of achieving this particular outcome."
