Korean academic Dr Jay Song appeared in ABC's current affairs discussion program Q&A as a panel and she said although many politicians tend to say cause social problems are caused by migrants, its not.

Dr Jiyoung (Jay) Song is a Senior Lecturer at the Asia Institute of the University of Melbourne. She joined ABC's current affairs discussion program Q&A’s A Big Australia debate on March 12 along with former Foreign Minister and NSW Premier Bob Carr, sustainability advocate Tim Flannery, Executive Director of the NSW Property Council Jane Fitzgerald and the CEO of the Grattan Institute John Daley.

Dr Song is a migrant policy expert who used to work in UK, Singapore as well as her homeland South Korea. She is also one of recent migrants who came to Australia 2 years ago on 457 visa and got granted a permanent residency about 6 months ago.

Dr Song says serious social problems including rising house price, house shortage and traffic congestion are not caused by migrants like what our politicians have been constantly arguing about.

“It is infrastructure problem and Australia needs to fix it and we need to build better Australia together with migrants” she says.
