In a central Jakarta shopping mall, Indonesian Korean enthusiasts arrived for a K-pop competition.

There are no official statistics or Korean-love studies, but it is known in 2015, 220,000 Indonesians travelled to South Korea as tourists - a figure that is continuing to increase.

"Indonesians have all fallen in love with Korean television drama," Irma Maulida, an Indonesian woman from the Korean Tourism organisation, said.

Korean television series Descendants of the Sun, has been popular across South East Asia.

"American drama is more towards the western side and the Korean drama is more catered to Asians," 19-year-old Jason said.
