Mr Lee Baeksoon, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Australia, discussed the ‘Inter-Korean Peace-Building and Denuclearisation of North Korea’ at the seminar in the Melbourne University Asia Institute’s Korean Studies Distinguished Speakers Series.
After the highly successful Pyongchang Winter Olympic Games in South Korea and with great efforts made by South Korean President Moon Jae-in, inter-Korean and North Korea-US relations have now turned a new phase of peace-building and denuclearisation in Korea.
“The Korean peninsula issue is gaining global attention recently” Mr Lee Baeksoon says.
“This opportunity can be the last chance for peace on the Korean Peninsula”
Mr Lee Baeksoon emphasizes “We must establish peace on the Korean Peninsula through various diplomacy channels and achieve North Korea’s denuclearization”
In this seminar, Mr Lee Baeksoon explained his view for the development of bilateral relations between Korea and Australia.
“Korea and Australia are the perfectly matching partners” Lee Baeksoon says.
