Jobs growth better than Howard: Morrison

Treasurer Scott Morrison has told coalition MPs that Australia's 2017 jobs growth was better than any year under John Howard.

Australia's record jobs growth is better than any year under John Howard, Treasurer Scott Morrison has told coalition MPs.

Mr Morrison told the coalition party room on Tuesday that Australia added 403,000 new jobs in 2017, significantly higher than the best year under Howard (343,000) or Labor (282,600).

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull told MPs the 1100 jobs created each day last year was the best since records began.
