Jonghyun is not the only one who took his life in Korean entertainment industry where has enormous cultural pressures to succeed.

After Shinee's lead singer Jonghyun's death the news.com.au describes K-Pop industry as a brutal business because it is notorious for chewing up and spitting out its young stars.

The aricle mentions several Korean artists who took their lives, 19 year old singer Seo Ji-won, folk rock singer Kim Kwang-seok, actress Lee Eun-Joo, Jeong Da-Bin, Choi jin-sil to name but a few.

According to the World Health Organisation, South Korea has the second-highest suicide rate in the world and 37 suicides per day were reported in 2015.

The high suicide rate has been attributed to cultural pressures to succeed. It is hard to deny the perfectionism in the Korean society has led the rapid success of the country as far as now but the social pressure especially to young people under the spotlight is way too much.
