Do politicians follow other politicians or the scoops and scandals shared by journalists? Which journalists have the most politicians following them?

Twitter has changed the way journalists and politicians communicate with voters and each other. It's a way to share short powerful messages with the public.

This interactive shows the connections on Twitter between Australian federal politicians and journalists.

Are there strong links between the two groups? Do politicians follow other politicians or the scoops and scandals shared by journalists? Which journalists have the most politicians following them?

This chart is based on publicly-available Twitter data including information gained from all 194 Federal politician Twitter accounts (31 of our politicians are not on Twitter) and 434 Twitter accounts managed by Australian journalists. Data was collected in May in the days after the 2016 Federal budget.
