Born and graduated in Korea, Audrey Kim moved to Australia to study abroad on government scholarship and worked in the sales field at a small media firm for a few years. Kim then was scouted by America On Line (AOL) who looking for highly qualified individuals as a person in charge of entry into the Korean market.
AOL, acquired by Verizon in 2015 is an American multicultural mass media corporation based in New York, representing premium content and innovative technology. AOL owns and operates a number of subsidiaries such as The Huffington Post, MapQuest, Millennial Media and Engadget.
Kim had difficulties with language and culture but overcame them through hard work. She emphasised that a complete understanding of and complete assimilation into their culture is far more important, rather than having fluent command of their language.
Kim said her goal is to start her teaching career in Korea as a business consulting manager in Korea to foster talented individuals in the digital media field.
