Korean Non-blockbusters We Cant Miss explores well-made Korean films but which were not successful at the box-office. This weeks films include A Brand New Life (2009) directed by Ounie Lecomte and Park Hong-mins A Fish (2013).

The debut feature of the director Ounie Lecomte is based on her own life experience of struggling to adapt to a new orphanage life. Jin-hee, a girl who is left in an orphanage by her father after he convinced her that she is going on a trip, struggles not to adjust to her surroundings and retains the belief that he will return to take her back. She is eventually adopted by French parents who are waiting for her at an airport in France. She makes her way to France by herself to meet her new parents.

Park Hong-mins mystery thriller 3D film, A Fish, was invited to 2016 Sydney Film Festivals Korea on the Verge. The film opens with Jeon-hyuk who is on his way to find his wife, Ji-yeon who left and became a shaman in an island in Jindo. He tries to get her back but finds his dead body recovered from the sea. He finally realises he is dead and his wife is doing a shaman ritual to get rid of evil spirits from his dead body. The film also features a side story that two fishermen, fishing in the sea are having a ridiculous debate whether or not fish know that by taking bait they are sealing their fate.
