Korean born Wooyeon Choi tops NSW in two 2017 HSC subjects

Wooyeon Choi from Cheltenham Girls High School has topped the NSW in two 2017 HSC subjects; English as second language ,and Korean and Literature.


Korean born Wooyeon Choi came to Australia in 2011 with her family. She supposed to go to year five class but somehow, she enrolled in year six as soon as she arrived in a new country. 

Like other migrant children, she suffered a lot because of English but six years later, she became the top student in English and her homeland language, Korean subjects in HSC.

Wooyeon who graduated from Cheltenham Girls High Schooltalks to SBS Koran program that she chose subjects that she truly interested in and that has made a big difference. 

Wooyeon wants to be a midwife and have received full scholarship offer in midwifery course from UTS.
