Chung Jae Lee is one of the most beloved Korean chefs in Australia. He has been running a Korean BBQ restaurant, Little Miss Korea in Darwin since 2015. Before moved to Darwin Chung Jae had run a restaurant called Mapo in Adelaide and it was named best Asian restaurant in South Australia. Chung Jae himself was also named the best chef in 2012 and he was appeared on several foods program including SBSs Food Safari.
NT Times reported in June that Chung Jae is holding a charity dinner to raise a fund to donate a urine test machine to a hospital in Darwin. Chung Jaes personal experience of kidney transplant has affected to plan the fundraising. The chef also known as a former judo player had a kidney transplant operation last year after 22 months of dialysis. During his treatment he found out as a hospital in Darwin does not obtain the urine test machine, it provides huge inconvenience for kidney transplant patients in Northern Territory to travel to other states such as South Australia in order to receive a medical treatment.
The process of having dialysis and surgery was not easy and without others help I wouldnt have done that. I appreciate that and thats why I organise the charity dinner to repay them for what I have received Chung Jae says.
