A Korean jewellery maker Yong Joo Kim who is internationally renowned for work using hook-and-loop fasteners visits Melbourne for her first solo exhibition in Australia.

Hook-and-loop fasteners, commonly known as Velcro, are not something you see as art materials.

But Yong Joo Kim has spent the last 8 years turning this mundane object into jewelleries and art pieces.

She is considered a pioneer in the use of hook-and-loop fasteners as material for art.

Her work appears in the permanent collection of Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) and Velcro Group.

Also, the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), London, has recently acquired three of artists bracelets as part of its permanent collection.
