Korean man on working holiday visa became a victim of random attack

It is reported that a Korean man on a working holiday visa was attacked by a stranger in Brisbane on Apr 1, 2018 during the Easter Holiday.


The death of Eunji Ban who was killed by the random and vicious attack at the Wickham Park in Brisbane in 2013 brought a lot of safety concerns to Korean community around Australia.

Hanho Daily, a newspaper in Korean community reported that a Korean man on a working holiday visa was randomly attacked by three African looking men in their 20s on 1st Apr 2018.

The victim who came to Australia 6 months ago has been working in a car wash. He was suddenly attacked while walking along the Roma Street Parklands at around 9:00 PM.

The three men initially targeted his wallet and mobile phone.

When they found there was no wallets they just took his mobile phone but the victim begged for them to return his mobile by keep following them. They eventually threw the mobile phone onto the ground.

Then the victim who badly injured by the attack reported the incident to QLD police and the Korean Consulate General in Sydney.

It is believed that three attackers were arrested by the police.
