Korean student jockeys to get trained in Rockhampton

Students from Korean Horseman High School are getting special trainings in Australia with a support of Rockhampton Jockey Club and the local council.


ABC reported that Korean Horseman High School is a specialist equestrian school in Namwon, Korea. It has signed an agreement with the Rockhampton Jockey Club and the local council to provide the training program to aspiring Korean students.

 

Eight students are expected to arrive next month and they will be taught in Callaghan Park race track. Some equestrian theory and practical training as well as English language lesson will be included in the program.

The school has been sending students to Australia since 2011 where has leading Equine industry and some of their graduates has successfully employed in Australia and New Zealand.

Deputy principal Bongsu Oh expected students to have a good quality of training in Rockhampton.

"The reason why we chose Rockhampton is because we wanted to expand our opportunities for our prospective students so the student can learn the real Australian experience as well practical skills in the horse industry," he said.
