Korean young stars rise in Kanga Cup win

Daegu Dongbu, a young Korean female team stormed to victory in the grand final after beating Sellharbour 3-1 in the Under 18’s Female Cup final in Canberra.


Daegu Dongbu took a Kanga Cup title as their first international win in Canberra.

The young Korean female team stormed to victory in the grand final after beating Shellharbour JFC 3-1 in the Under 18’s Female Cup final.

More than 4500 players from 322 teams are taking part in this year's tournament, along with several thousand more coaches, parents and support staff.

While around 25 percent of teams are from the Canberra area, many have travelled from interstate and as far away as New Zealand, the Philippines and South Korea for the tournament.

The director of the Daegu Dongbu, Sewon Bum said SBS Korean on the phone, "The girls have worked very hard and I would like to say thank you for all supportive Korean community in Canberra."
