Allegations of foreign interference linked to China and raids on the home and office of a NSW upper house MP is the latest scandal to rock the Labor Party.

New South Wales Labor leader Jodi McKay [[Muh-kay]] says she will move to suspend M-P Shaoquett Moselmane from parliament.

Mr Moselmane is currently under investigation for suspected links to the Chinese Communist Party.

The politician has been suspended from the Labor Party, but can still sit as a member of parliament in the Upper House.

Ms McKay says the problem is a Labor issue, a day after Treasurer Dominic Perrottet [[per-roh-tay]] said the Liberal government will push to suspend him.

She said, "As leader of the Labor Party, we will always fiercely protect the independence and the integrity of the New South Wales parliament, and we will take whatever decision is needed to be able to do that. I will also say, and I note Dominic Perrottet mentioned this yesterday, that there have been at this particular point no charges laid against Mr Moselmane."
