Labor will ramp up sponsor fees for temporary skilled workers from overseas as well as labour market testing requirements.
Federal Labor has proposed to reform aspects of the visa system which it says will prioritise Australian jobs and address the exploitation of temporary workers.
The federal opposition wants to force employers to advertise locally before seeking temporary foreign workers as well as higher sponsor fees.
Labor is also pledging to review the student visa and working holiday-maker visa programs.
Labor believes you must ensure the 730,000 unemployed Australians get a chance of work before you go overseas. Opposition Employment spokesman Brendan O'Connor said.
