Opposition Leader Luke Foley has urged NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian to oppose the change of Racial Discrimination Act and refuse preference deal with the One Nation party at State election.
Opposition Leader Luke Foley has held an ethic media conference at NSW Parliament in 30 March, 2017. Various media groups from migrant communities attended the conference including SBS Radio Korean Program.
Alongside, Shadow Minster for Multiculturalism Sophie Cotsis and Parliamentary Secretary Ernest Wong, Mr Foley expressed his disappointment that NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has refused to oppose the change of Section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act - which the Federal Government is trying to weaken.
Mr Foley criticized Ms Berejiklian will not join her predecessors Mike Baird and Barry OFarrell in their support for strong laws against racist hate speech.
We wanted to know something very simple. If the Premier - as the leader of the nations biggest multicultural state - believed in preventing racism. We didnt get an answer. And that, by itself, is an answer. he said.
Mr Foley also indicated the fact that Ms Berejiklian did not refuse to rule out preference deal with Pauline Hansons the One Nation Party at State elections.
I would rather lose an election than do a deal with Pauline Hanson. I just won't do it no matter what it costs to me politically. Labor party rather to stay in opposition than getting to bed with Hanson he said.
SBS Korean program is presenting more intensive reports on the change of Section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act in the next week.
