Foreign Minister Marise Payne has defended Australia's support for a United States investigation looking into the origins of a probe into Russian interference in the last US election.
Canberra has confirmed Donald Trump asked Scott Morrison to help in the inquiry aimed at discrediting the Russia probe, including scrutinising the role played by US intelligence agencies.
But Ms Payne denied suggestions Australia is being caught up in a United States domestic political dispute.
