"As medical students we are taught to care for all of our patients regardless of their backgrounds..."

The Australian Medical Students Association (AMSA) is organising a march to raise awareness about the harmful effects of Australia's detention policies on refugee and asylum seeker health.

Students, doctors, health professionals, refugee advocacy groups and the general public will march around Sydney CBD from Hyde Park on 7th of April.

Carrie Lee, medical student at UNSW is one of active members in AMSA. The medical student with a Korean background says “As medical students we are taught to care for all of our patients and so some of values we real hold are just doing no harm to patents and advocating for their health needs and this means that we don't look what background the patients come from weather they were born in Australia or overseas or how much money they have. These don't matter to us. Because Patients are patients and everyone deserves access to health care”

“In particular we learn Refugee and asylum seekers they face a lot of trauma from their background. So they have a lot of medical and health care needs including physical as well as physiological. These are some of reasons why it really matter to us as medical students. We can't accept lack of health cares was given to these people.”
