A brilliantly taken goal by Nick Fitzgerald secured a 1-0 win for Melbourne City to draw to an end table topping Adelaide United's unbeaten A-League streak on Friday night.
The City forward cut inside Adelaide defender Jordan Elsey with one touch of his right boot, then curled an unstoppable shot into the far top corner of the net with his left boot.
The defining goal was just reward for City, in a feisty encounter that featured nine yellow cards.
Melbourne produced 13 shots to just eight for the Reds, who were off colour before a bumper 14,274-strong home crowd.
The visitors effectively stifled Adelaide, who lost creative spark Marcelo Carrusca at half-time because of groin soreness.
