Ryde councillor Peter Kim says CCTV was recommended by police after 6 Chinese shops experienced break-in on the same day in the early last year and a bag was stolen in a Korean business during day time.


Labor’s candidate for Ryde, the city’s Mayor Jerome Laxale and Labor’s shadow police minister Guy Zangari committed $750,000 to install more CCTV cameras in Eastwood business area if it wins next month’s state election.

The fund will cover CCTV cameras on both sides of the Eastwood town centre including a Korean town in Rowe St.

Ryde councillor Peter Kim says CCTV was recommended by police after 6 Chinese shops experienced break-in on the same day in the early last year and a bag was stolen in a Korean business during day time.

“As our mayor, Mr Jerome Laxale is running for the state election as a Ryde candidate of Labor, CCTV cameras installed in Eastwood becomes Labor’s election pledge,” Mr Kim says.
