NSW residents need to watch the budget this financial year, with power bills, council rates and some toll roads all set to rise.

Higher power bills, increased council rates and extra change needed for toll roads - NSW residents is taking quite a hit to the hip pocket this financial year.

Electricity bills have risen by hundreds of dollars per year from July 1, as energy retailers raised their prices between 7 and 17 per cent.

Major retailers Origin Energy and AGL have already revealed their prices will rise by 10 and 11 per cent on average, respectively.

The sting continues for motorists using the Eastern Distributor road toll in Sydney, who will pay up to six cents more for every trip from Friday. Drivers licence, vehicle registration and public transport fees are also set to increase in line with inflation.
