Dramatic images from the bushfires have captured the hearts and minds of people worldwide with donations pouring in from across the globe.

More than $100 million has been raised in total, with funding going to the fire service, people who've lost their homes and wildlife carers.

It's the TV and newspaper images of flames that have captured the world's attention.

People across the globe are giving to help those who've lost everything.

Charities say the past couple of days have been incredible.

The Red Cross' Poppy Brown says the organisation had one million dollars in the kitty on New Years Eve; now it has $34.9 million.

The Facebook fundraiser set up by Australian comedian Celeste Barber went global.

Comedian Celeste Barber's bushfire appeal shows no sign of slowing down, having raised a staggering $44 million in less than a week.

Anna Felton from the New South Wales based WIRES says her organisation is recieving 30,000 emails a day.

The donations have been fueled by celebrities, such as Australian Actor Margot Robbie, who posted this online before her Golden Globe appearence.

Cricket star, Shane Warne is auctioning his baggy green cap that he wore throughout his test career.

Big business has also joined the appeal.

One of today's largest donations came from mining giant BHP, the Chief Executive telling staff the company would donate two million dollars to the Red Cross.

BHP joins fellow miner Rio Tinto and the Commonwealth Bank who have contributed a million dollars each.

The job now is to figure out how to spend it all.

But there are also scams, with police warning of fraudulent online funding pages

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is urging people to only donate to registered organisations.
