Raids by Australian Federal Police on media organisations have continued, raising questions about press freedom in Australia.

The raids at the Sydney A-B-C office relate to a 2017 story about Australian special forces activities in Afghanistan.

The A-B-C’s editorial director Craig McMutrie says the stories the raids relate to were important ones for the public to hear.

He says the raid by federal police on the A-B-C is a disturbing development for the media in Australia.

In a statement, federal police said the A-B-C raid on Wednesday is not linked to a search it conducted on a Canberra-based journalist’s home earlier this week.

The A-F-P says the warrants relate to separate allegations of publishing classified material.
