In New South Wales, a pop-up COVID-19 testing clinic is to be opened in Bondi to assist in minimising the spread of the coronavirus.

It comes after clusters of COVID-19 developed within Sydney's backpacker community.

The state's health authorities are directing doctors in Sydney's Waverly Council area, which includes suburbs such as Bondi and Bronte [[BRON-tee]], to send more patients for testing.

New South Wales Police Commissioner Mick Fuller says police are playing an important role in ensuring people are following the health departments guidelines.
