NSW Education Minister Rob Stokes says schools shouldn't be afraid to discuss the anti-sexual harassment message #MeToo.

As parents prepare to send their children back to school, the NSW education minister has backed discussing the anti-sexual harassment movement #MeToo in classrooms.

NSW Education Minister Rob Stokes has reportedly urged principals to tackle the issue of sexual harassment "openly, frankly and objectively".

Mr Stokes has told the Daily Telegraph schools shouldn't be isolated from current events.

"When issues of societal importance arise it is to be expected that, when appropriate, teachers discuss with students what these issues mean," he said.
