Scott Morrison continues to poll well as preferred prime minister compared with Bill Shorten but he has lost ground with older voters, the latest quarterly Newspoll analysis shows.
Mr Morrison leads Mr Shorten as preferred prime minister 50 per cent to 32 among voters aged 50 and over, and 42 per cent to 36 among those aged 35 to 49 years.
However, Mr Morrison's support among baby boomers (those aged 50 and over) has slipped with 45 per cent of them expressing dissatisfaction with his performance, according to the analysis covering late October to this month, which was conducted exclusively for The Australian.
The coalition continues to lead Labor 40 to 37 per cent among baby boomers but voters in the 18-34 and 35-49 age groups prefer Labor.
