Coalition MPs have gathered in Canberra for their first party room meeting since their re-election for a third consecutive term of federal government.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison says he will govern with humility and compassion.

Coalition MPs and senators gathered in Canberra today for their first party room meeting since the election.

Mr Morrison says his team will focus on the aspirations of ordinary Australians.

[PM Scott Morrison: "We must burn for the Australian people every single day that we have this privilege of serving them, in this party room and as a government. That requires us to not only have that spirit of humility in the way we go about our business and respect for the Australian people and the great institutions of this Parliament. But it's about ensuring that we get and do the obvious things that need to be done. We do the little things well as well as doing the big things well."]

Mr Morrison's new ministry will be sworn in tomorrow.
