The Brisbane Times reports an appeal for a serial predator who hunted down, drugged and raped young Korean women he found for language exchanges online was rejected.

Egyptian-born Ashraf Makary(44) is a serial rapist who drugged and attacked four Korean young women in Brisbane in 2011.

He was jailed for 18-and-a-half years in June 2016 for drugging and raping three Korean students, and for the attempted rape of a fourth while he was out on bail for the first three attacks.

However, he didn’t accept the verdict against him.

In documents filed in the appeal court, Makary argued his conviction should be reconsidered because his action was made by “reasonable and honest belief” that he had consent, despite no evidence he had such a belief.

However, as the Court of Appeal in Brisbane rejected his appeal, the serial rapist will remain behind bars until 2032.

Makary, also a qualified teacher used the same strategy to lure the victims.

He contacted the Korean women - aged 19, 20 and 24 - on a language exchange website with the intention of raping them. When he met the victims, known only as Emma, Amy, Linda and Mary (not their real names), Makary drove them to various locations around the city, spiked their drinks with sedatives, and raped them in his car or at his Murarrie home.

The court heard the women's lives had been permanently changed because of Makary's offending.
