Do you know Korean traditional drumming has performed in Sydney when it is around the Liberation Day of Korea on 15 August since 2014?


Project Ul-ssi-gu has been sending a message of Peace and Harmony to the global community through street performance of Pungmul, Korean traditional drumming on 15 August to celebrate the Liberation Day of Korea called Gwang Bok Jeol in Korean.

Gwang Bok Jeol means Restoration of Light Day and Korean Pungmul teams around the world show their joy and freedom by street performing the traditional Korean music.

Here in Australia, Sydney Hanwoori Samulnori team has performed in Sydney CBD area around the Liberation Day since 2014. This year the group of Korean-Australian youth shouted out “Ul-ssi-gu Joh-ta” on 19 August in Sydney.

Sydney Hanwoori Samulnori team’s Deborah Kim(Janggu), Taesoo Kim(Kwaeggwari), Rebekah Kim(Buk) and Lois Kim and Lois Kim(Jing &Kwaeggawri) joins SBS Korean program.
