ABC reported that women born in South Korea in 2030 will lead the world in life expectancy having an average of 90.8 years.

Imperial College London recently analysed 35 countries, including Korea, Australia, the United States and Finland, using death and population data from between 1985 and 2010.

They found out that evidence suggested that women born in South Korea in 2030 will have an average life expectancy of 90.8 years, while men could reach 84.1 years. While those women and men in the Australia will reach 87.6 years and 84 years respectably.

Dr James Bennett, a researcher at Imperial College London, said South Korea's projection was based on several areas performing well such as health, lifestyle, and medical system and so on.

"[South Korea] has low levels of obesity and blood pressure - lower than most Western countries - has lower rates of smoking in women," he said.

However, Dr Bennett said a higher life expectancy does not necessarily mean an increased quality of life.
