South Korea's Constitutional Court upholds the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye, removing her from office over a graft scandal involving big business that has gripped the country for months.

President Park becomes South Korea's first democratically elected leader to be forced from office. A presidential election will be held in 60 days, according to the constitution.

She was impeached by parliament in December on charges including bribery and abuse of power, and the Constitutional Court was to issue its decision on whether to confirm the move on Friday.

Korean Political commentator JS Suh analyses the meaning of the court upholding the impeachment of President Park Geun Hye.
