Amid the growing concern over coronavirus spread, some Korean community business districts are overtly affected due to the dissemination of fake news via Chinese ‘WeChat’ or Korean ‘Kakao Talk’.


A councillor of the City of Ryde and Australian Korean medical practitioner Dr Peter Kim said in an interview with SBS Korean “Undue concerns over coronavirus spread seem to be exacerbated due to such rumours on SNS.

“Eastwood, Sydney is safe for Korean community people without direct contacts with those who have been confirmed to have contracted the virus.”

He said, “The Government and the health authorities have done everything to prevent the virus from spreading.”
