Sydney has wrapped up Lunar New Years celebrations in the Year of the Dog with Eastwood Festival, whereas still leaving a question of the proper title of it: Lunar New Year or Chinese New Year.

Eastwood, north west of Sydney with high density of Korean speakers, held a community festival to mark the Year of the Dog in the Lunar calendar, last Saturday.

A large crowd of community people flocked to the streets of Eastwood to indulge in multicultural atmospheres.

As expected, most of them were Chinese Australians.

The festival showcased various programmes to epitomize the Lunar New Year.

Starting with the Chinese traditional dance, lion dance, the Dragon Parade and the martial arts performance demonstration, the festival also exhibited a fan dance performed by a visiting Korean troupe, and the other performance combined with  modern music and Korean traditional instruments.

The festival was also complemented with a variety of Asian food stalls and an open market around the Eastwood plaza.

Korean Program spoke to Korean performers and a few spectators about their thought about the title of Lunar New Year predominantly known as Chinese New Year.
