While the total number of global deaths from terrorism has declined for the second year in a row, attacks are spreading into an increasing number of countries.
The total number of global deaths from terrorism has declined for the second year in a row.
The Global Terrorism Index (GTI), compiled by an Australian research body, indicates there's been 22 per cent fewer recorded deaths from terrorism since the peak of activity in 2014.
The index found in 2016 the four countries most impacted by terrorism were Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria.
It noted that these four countries overall experienced 33 per cent fewer deaths due to terrorism.
But even as the threat of terrorism decreases in these countries, many other Western countries are facing bigger problem than ever before.
