The Australian welcomes the idea from the Human Services Minister Alan Tudge and urges the government to roll out the government welfare card as soon as possible.
Human Services Minister Alan Tudge wrote that the government is looking to replace cash payments for unemployed teenagers with a government welfare card - an idea based on New Zealands Youth Services card for those on young parents or unemployment benefits.
The card would allow recipients to pay for necessities such as rent, power and groceries.
