The Australian argues that exceptions cannot be made for Muslim immigrants who want to enjoy benefit of what Australia has to offer.


Domestic violence is a serious crime in Australia. The Australian emphasizes that not only domestic violence offenders but also others who condone and cover it up, including Muslim leaders, should be held legally accountable.

There's been debate over revelations some Australian schools and universities have let male Muslim students refuse to shake hands with women due to their faith. The paper says this kind of protocol could be shown as a ridiculous double standard.

The Australian points out that if Muslim immigrants and their children want to enjoy benefit of what Australia has to offer, they cannot expect to be exempted from our laws and accepted standards of behaviour - including the need to treat both men and women with respect.
