The Guardian argues that excessive presidential power should be limited as the first step, but at the same time the power of family-run conglomerates, known as chaebols, should be curtailed.

The Guardian explains that Park Geun-hye is the first leader in the nations democratic history to be forced from office and emphasises that her departure should entail a shake-up of Koreas powerful conglomerates, known as cheabols.

The paper predicts that the removal of Park Geun-hye could be a factor affecting relations with North Korea, the US and China, especially if Moon Jae-in, the opposition MP currently leading in the race to the top office, succeeds her.

When it comes to the reasons for her impeachment, it points out three factors: her incompetence and authoritarianism; perhaps in some part her gender; growing disaffection among voters angered by what they call Hell Joseon.

It pointedly says that Korean people are fed up with seeing politicians and business leaders escape with a slap on the wrist.

The Guardian suggests that both excessive presidential authority and far too much power of the chaebols need to be curtailed.
