Prime Minister Scott Morrison finally announced Australia will go to the polls on May 18.


This year's federal election finally has a date: May the 18th.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison made the announcement early on Thursday(April 11) after weeks of speculation.

Public servants are now in what is known as "caretaker mode",

Caretaker mode refers to a period of time prior to a general election when the Governor-General dissolves the government until a new one is elected.
