Korean political commentator JS Suh says As voters have already reflected their views on the tragedy of the Sewol ferry, it wouldnt affect the 19th presidential elections unless an unexpected event is happened during the salvage operation.

South Koreas Sewol ferry emerged from the waters on 23 March, 2017. It took 1073 days after the Sewol ferry sank off the coast of South Korea with the loss of 304 lives mainly school children. As it is believed that nine bodies still unaccounted for may be trapped inside the sunken ship, lifting the ferry has been a key demand of the families of the victims.

Korean political commentator JS Suh says Although most Koreans have closely looked at the salvage operation, it wont affect the upcoming presidential elections. It is because that the voters have already reflected their views on the tragedy of the Sewol ferry

However, if an unexpected event happens during the salvage operation, that might shatter the elections he said.

JS Suh also mentioned about the chance that prosecutors would request a warrant to arrest the oust President Park Geun-hye. He said Given the facts and the laws, it seems pretty reasonable to arrest the formal president however, as some strategic consideration would be reflected, it is difficult to predict what would happen
