Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd who officially admitted that Australia is not in need of missile defence system said now time to think about to get one as North Korean missile could reach to our own soil.
You may remember former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd who served as a foreign minister and spoke Mandarin surprisingly fluently. Rudd is still a top regional security and defence experts and he have backed that call, considering Australia and its regional allies must invest heavily in missile defence.
The former prime minister told the Sydney morning herald "Given North Korean developments, Australia would be well advised to begin analysing ballistic missile defence needs, available technologies and possible deployment feasibility for northern Australia."
North Korea's recent provocative launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile could potentially reach to Darwin and the US states of Alaska and Hawaii. North Koreas aggressive attempt seems to change Mr Rudds view on the missile defence System because the Rudd government's Defence White Paper of 2009 explicitly opposed it for Australia.
The SBS Korean program has more.
