1st in Australia and 195th in the world is Wesfarmers, well known as Coles.
2nd in Australia and 228th in the world is Woolworths group. It means, two major retailers took no.1 and no.2 in Australia ranking.
3rd in Australia and 296th in the world is mining company, BHP. This company is dual listed company, one in Australia and another in U.K. as Billiton. However, after they changed company’s name in 2017 from BHP Billiton to BHP, it moves to more Australian like company.
4th in Australia and 349th in the world is Commonwealth bank and 3 other major banks, Westpac, ANZ, NAB ranked in 400s.
Other 3 companies didn’t rank in ‘Fortune Global 500’, but still ranked in ASX top 10 list.
In the mining industry, Rio Tinto ranked in top 10, 3rd largest company in ASX index and having various resource portfolios in the company.
In the finance sector, Macquarie, largest investment bank in Australia, ranked in top 10.
And, in the bio technology sector, CSL limited ranked in top 10.
