An internationally renowned Korean tenor Younghoon Lee, who is loved for his smoothness and strength, gives another impressive performance as a Prince Calaf of Puccini’s “Turandot”, cooling off Sydney heatwave.


The Opera Australia presented Puccini’s tale of the ultimate ice princess with a vendetta against men, set in China and based on a 12th-century Persian epic is directed by Graeme Murphy. It is a fantasy opera of poetry and myth, set in an exotic world where fear and love go hand in hand and death is always just around the corner. 

Nessun dorma, the glorious aria, that Yonghoon Lee sings as Calaf, is just one of its magnificent moments.

Tenor Yonghoon Lee who performed passionately the role of Radamès in the performance of "Aida" in Opera Australia last year, has established himself internationally as a leading tenor of his generation. He came back to Australia with his fifth performance since his debut in 2013 with “Tosca”

He has made debuts at most of the most prestigious theatres in the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Chicago Lyric Opera, Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Frankfurt Opera, Opera Covent Garden, Rome Opera, Vienna State Opera, Semper Oper in Dresden, Hamburg State Opera, Australian Opera and Deutsche Oper Berlin.
