WA AFL’s legend Peter Bell’s reunion with his Korean birth mother

WA’s one of the best AFL plyers Peter Bell is a Korean adoptee and he shares a remarkable story of reunion with his birth mother Kyung Ae.


Peter Bell, a former Australian rules footballer for the Fremantle Football Club and the North Melbourne Football Club is an AFL legend in Western Australia. He was twice named as a member of the All-Australian Team and inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame in 2015.

Bell was born in Korea in 1976 from a Korean mother and an American father. He was adopted by an Australian vet couple and grew up in Kojonup in WA.

After the retirement in 2008, Bell has been started broadcasting career and now he is hosting a breakfast show in ABC Radio Perth.

Peter Bell appears in ABC’s popular interview program the Conversations and told about a unexpected reunion with his birth mother.

In 2006 when he was at the peak of his football career, his birth mother Kyung Ae lived in USA contacted him and he found out a hidden story of his birth.
