Health Minister Greg Hunt has announced the arrival of 30 million masks, with 10 million to be made available to workers over the coming days.
Large quantities of gowns, gloves and goggles have also been promised.
Emergency doctor Stephen Parnis told A-B-C's Q and A workers are struggling to find protective gear.

Shadow Minister for Health Chris Bowen says the safety of health workers should be a priority.

Too many healthcare workers are dying overseas. I acknowledge the work of the government in very difficult circumstances, but that's got to be our number one aim."]]
