Home prices in the nation's five top capital cities were steady in the week to May 20 compared to the prior week, CoreLogic data show.

Australia's five major capital cities have recorded no weekly change in house prices for a second consecutive week.

The latest CoreLogic property figures show 2,089 homes were taken to auction in the week to May 20 with a clearance rate of 60.3 per cent, better than the prior week which had more auctions but the lowest clearance rate since December 2015.

Melbourne's prices slipped 0.2 per cent, while Adelaide's rose 0.1 per cent and home values in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth were unchanged compared to the prior week to keep the national average capital city price movement flat.

In the year to date, house prices have fallen 1.3 per cent across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
