SBS Radio Korean Program examines how the Australian university students perceive the upcoming inter-Korean summit.
The President of South Korea, Moon Jae-in, and the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, will have a summit at Panmunjom, which is the border of the two, on 27th April.
The main issue of this summit will include the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. South Korea's government is making significant efforts to achieve denuclearization, and Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-hwa said the complete denuclearization of North Korea is a common international goal and needs a cooperation between South Korea and the United States
Especially, Australia is also keen for the upcoming inter-Korean summit because the Korean peninsula’s nuclear crisis is not just a matter on the Korean Peninsula, but also Australian society.
Australian Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull said he supports the inter-Korean summit, which could contribute to the denuclearization of the Korea Peninsula. However, he is worried that North Korea has already ignored the agreements several times in the past.
