We spend about one third of our lives sleeping. Theres no other activity we engage in more, and its as critical to our health as food and water. Put simply, our cognitive abilities deteriorate without sleep.
So, are we getting enough? And, when we are catching zs, how do we know if the quality of our sleep is enough to sustain the demands of our busy lives?
We live in a 24-hour society of smart phones, emails, text messages, and Twitter feeds. We call on stimulants like caffeine to keep us awake, and often turn to alcohol to send us to sleep.
