Young Korean baristas’ love and passion for coffee

Many young Korean baristas have been named Australia's best barista.


Jooyeon Jeon of South Korea won 2019 World Barista Championship. She became the second female barista to win the World Barista Championship (WBC).

“Through my role as a champion, I hope to share my love and passion for specialty coffee with my country.” Jooyeon told BeanScene Magazine.

Many young Korean Australian baristas are also well under way to be a world champion.

MJ Kim of Shamble Coffee Brewers has won the 2019 Australian TCX Cup Tasters Championship.

She will compete in the 2019 World Cup Tasters Championship at World of Coffee in Berlin, Germany from 8 to 10 June.

She said Byoung-Woo Kang, Australia’s 2014 cup tasting champion and Hyun-suk Ko, two-time Cup Tasters National Champion(2015 & 2016) guided her way to become the number one in the competition.
